Copying LODs from ME2 to ME3 (or Warp Face)

In my previous post I highlighted how removing the LODs and forcing a rebuild cause significant differences in the face of your Shepard. I also mentioned attempting to automate the process of copying the ME2 LODs to ME3.

As you can see, I think it's been a real success. I think the character of my Shepard really shines through.

Seriously, I think this illustrates that the ME3 head morph is actually more complex than it's previous iterations. The data is there and I think the internal knowledge that Bioware has could easily transfer the nuances that lie somewhere in this collection.

  1. I've done a bit of research on this aswell:

But lets hope it isn't needed.

  2. Oops, wrong link!

    1. Thanks for this. Response left in the thread but honestly, your work is extremely thoughtful. Hopefully it won't be needed but it looks like it's possible to make this work if a Bioware solution doesn't come through. Out of interest, what did you use to build this mesh?

    2. Given that it's built on top of Gibbed's ME2/3 editors (.net c#) I went with XNA.
I'll see about uploading the source somewhere, but its a bit of a mess right now.

A good side effect of this is having the ability to load ME2 and ME3 files in the same app, which at the very least makes the whole conversion method we've been doing much easier to process (no more copy paste between editors!).

And I suspect it will come in handy because changing the LOD data without also adjusting the bones is probably a bad idea.

  3. Are you still working on this? Looks like bioware are not going to fix this... :(
